Does SMP Hurt?

Unlike a conventional tattoo, where the top layer of the skin is being destroyed by multiple, larger needles, Scalp Micro Pigmentation utilizes a single tiny needle configuration that is much smaller, causing much less irritation and pain. From a pain level of 1-10, most clients say it’s a 2. Many fall asleep during the procedure.

Will anyone notice I had the treatment?

Scalp micropigmentation has become the #1 hair loss solution because of its natural and undetectable results. Most people, including family, can’t tell the difference from natural follicles and SMP follicles. Scalp Therapy prides itself on the ability to accurately replicate each individual hair follicle to create a perfect match for each and every client.

Do I need to take time off for the treatments?

Scalp micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no down time. Most often, you won’t need to take any extended time away from work, school, or other functions. After treatment it’s common to notice slight redness on the scalp for 1-2 days post treatment. Clients are also allowed to wear hats afterwards if they’d like, as long as they are not too tight or abrasive.

Can the treatment change colors?

No. Scalp micropigmentation is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, but unlike tattooing our pigments are designed to fall within the same color spectrum of a short head of hair. The pigment contains no additional colorants or additives and will only slightly fade over time and is just re-touched. It will not turn blue or green over an extended time.

Do I have to shave all my hair off?

Depending upon the pattern and extent of the thinning hair, some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. Scalp pigmentation can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is seen showing through. However, if there is a strong pattern of hair loss or just not a lot of hair density left the client is recommended to buzz it down shorter, creating a 5pm shadow look.

Can Scalp Micropigmentation hide my scars?

Absolutely! By replicating tiny hair follicles inside the scarring and blending the color around the scarred area, by transplant, and or surgical scars can see massive improvement in concealment.
